September 20 & 21 at Liberty Ridge Farm
Schaghticoke, NY, September 15, 2008. Liberty Ridge Farm, home of the Election 08 Corn Maze, will be hosting the 7th Annual Gifford Barn Sweet Corn Festival Saturday and Sunday, September 20th – 21st, 2008. The Sweet Corn Fest is a two day celebration of locally grown produce that features fresh corn culinary delights, educational displays, and ‘corn-centric’ activities.
Everyone is invited to bring their appetite and celebrate the Fall Harvest of local sweet corn by tasting grilled corn-on-the-cob with specialty flavored butters, sip sweet corn chowder and enjoy farm made corn muffins. Learn the difference between sweet corn and feed corn, and understand which type makes up the Liberty Ridge Election 08 Corn Maze. The 7th Annual Gifford Barn Sweet Corn Fest activities include corn husking and corn-on-the-cob eating contests, a ‘corny’ face painter, and Farmer Bruce, who wanders the farm showing off his barnyard magic and balloon art.
“Our farm chef makes corn delights right here in our farm kitchen with locally grow sweet corn,” said Owner Cynthia Gifford, “and every one who attends can place a vote with their feet in our Election 08 Corn Maze.”
The Election 08 Corn Maze, the Capital Regions original and largest corn maze, is a 12 acre labyrinth of pathways through the Republican Elephant, the Democrat Donkey, and Troy’s own Uncle Sam. Everyone, 4 to 94, can ‘vote with their feet’ and cast a ballot for the party of their choice in this years Election 08.
While attending the 7th Annual Gifford Barn Sweet Corn Fest families can enjoy all the fun at Liberty Ridge Farm with the Election 08 Corn Maze, Brad’s Barnyard of Family Fun Adventure, and The Gifford Barn. Kids love playing in the 8-acre Brad’s Barnyard of family farm adventure, featuring the Hill Billy Band, Giant Gerbil Wheels, Pig races, trolley rides and feeding the farm animals.
